Special Screening: Fruitvale Station with Associate Producer Haroula Rose 2013

Wednesday, August 14 at 7:30 pm

Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater will host filmmaker, writer, and performer Haroula Rose for a special screening of FRUITVALE STATION. Rose served as an associate producer of the film and will join us in person for a post-show discussion.

Winner of both the Grand Jury Prize for dramatic feature and the Audience Award for U.S. Dramatic Film at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, FRUITVALE STATION tells the story of the last day in the life of Oscar Grant (played by Michael B. Jordan), whose tragic shooting death by Bay Area transit officers on New Year’s Day 2009 shocked the nation.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, FRUITVALE STATION is generating nonstop Oscar buzz for its stirring portrayals and complexly drawn characters. We’re pleased to host the film’s associate producer Haroula Rose, who will join us and share her behind-the-scenes insights on the making of this important, provocative film.
