A bizarre fever dream that blends tropes from 80s teen comedies with John Waters weirdness and a twist of Lynchian horror, HEATHERS is the story of Veronica Sawyer (peak Winona Ryder), a member of her high school’s most powerful clique who nevertheless recognizes her friends for the vain bullies that they are. Enter Christian Slater as nonconformist new-kid-in-town J.D., who helps Veronica launch a campaign to avenge the victims of her popular friends’ pettiness. Their do-goodery takes a dark turn, and as perfect, teenage bodies start to stack up, Veronica begins to ponder the eternal question, “Are we going to prom or to hell?”
